Update on my shoulder

This has been a long learning process for me!! I have greater empapthy for people with chronic pain and disabilities. About Mid-May it was decided that I needed to go back to the hospital and be put under so that the surgeon could manipulate my arm (yank with all of his might). My shoulder was really stiff with a lot of adhesions and wasn't allowing my arm full range of motion. So on May 27th I went back and had the procedure done. It took about 17 minutes and I am so grateful that I was asleep for it!!! I was in recovery for a couple of hours. I was so tired and I just wanted to go to sleep. I was not in pain so I was comfortable and when I fell asleep an alarm would go off because my oxygen level would go down. The alarm would wake me up which was very annoying! Gary had to keep reminding me to breath deeply. I finally got to go home but I was very nauseated and in pain for the remainder of the day. It was worse than after the surgery. I had to start physical therapy that afternoon and that was very painful!!! I had physical therapy for the next two days along with exercises. I am back to physical therapy twice a week and each day my shoulder gets a little stronger and a little more movement. It will take awhile for the muscles to build back up so they can make my arm do what I want it to.

I have the cutest lap top of my very own. Gary got it for me for our anniversary. I know it's on the 13th but he couldn't wait to give it to me and I knew I was getting it and I couldn't wait to open it!!!!

Recovering from surgery

Well, I just looked at my blog and the last note was just after October Conference. I knew it had been awhile, but we just had Conference again. So I guess I had better catch up on a few things. It's not that I didn't want to post but I wanted to do it with pictures and I can't pin Melissa down long enough to help me.
Anyway Conference was incredible as always. It is always so uplifting for me. I especially loved Elder Holland's talk on the Savior and his atonement and the lonely road that we sometimes have to walk. It is one I shall not forget. It reminded me of Elder McConkie's talk just before he died.
So for those of you who don't know, I had surgery on my left shoulder on April 1st. (I told the surgeon not to play any tricks on me.) That was right before I fell asleep. the reason for surgery was a lot of pain, torn cartilage, adhesions and bone sours. I had a frozen shoulder, as in frozen in place. I only had about 40% motion left and some things I just couldn't do, like put a pony tail in my hair.
The surgery was about an hour and a half and went well. I have been trying to take it easy and keep ice on it which helps. I was grateful to have a reason to sit still for two days and watch conference. Thank you for the cards, flowers, meals, balloons and prayers. I feel very loved.
Today I started physical therapy. I wanted to cry! ( I actually did when I got home.) It is going to a very long process to get movement back. I need some good coaches! I have greater empathy for people who have a longer road to recovery than I have. I couldn't imagine being told I would never walk again and then going though what it would take to walk. My sweet neighbor, Elaine, just brought dinner for my family. I am very blessed and would much rather be the giver than the recipient. I just got released from Young Women after three years. I love serving in Youn Women and will miss the girls and leaders tremendously. I am excited for a new calling. More on that later.

Happy Times in Henderson

Hope you all enjoyed General Conference. It was once again so inspiring and uplifting.
Gary and I left early Friday morning with Stacy and her children and David to go down to Hernderson to spend the weekend with Brad and Jenny. We stayed at a beautiful place in Las Vegas. (Jenny's family was staying at her place) The kids enjoyed swimming and watching the Disney Channel! Tim, Steve, Angie and Nathan left afterwork and got there late on Friday night. Saturday morning we all went to Brad's to watch conference and spend time with them.
Hannah is soooooo adorable. She has chubby cheeks and legs and a darling smile. Preston is still a very busy happy little guy. While the guys went to Priesthood meeting we went back to the condo so the kids could swim.
Sunday was so wonderful. Jenny fixed us breakfast and we watched the morning session of Conference then we got to witness our beautiful little Hannah get blessed. What a sweet experience it is to see one of your children pronounce such a wonderful blessing. We had a yummy lunch and then we went to Brad's White Coat Ceremony. The only bad thing was that it was held in a Casino on the strip. Quite a contrast from General Conference!! We are very Proud of Brad and the hard work it takes to get where he is. He looks so handsome in his white coat! ( I have had an awful cold and cough and got a coughing spell right as they were retiring the colors, very embarassing!) We had to leave right after the ceremony and pictures. It's always hard for me to say good bye to the kids and leave them in Henderson. We got home about 12:30am.

Thanks to Melissa we now have a blog!! I think it's a great way to keep in touch so I will do my best to keep it up to date!
September has been very busy! I got to make a wonderful trip down to see Brad and Jenny and family. Baby Hannah and Preston were adorable. I flew down and then drove back up with Jenny while Brad stayed home for testing. Then I was home for a week and Gary and I spent a wonderful relaxing week at Lake Powell with great friends. I had one day at home and then flew to Washington DC for a National Eagle Forum Conference. I went to Mount Vernon with my friend Dalane and spent the rest of the time in meetings where we received great training and updates on current issues across the country. I got back late last night and am still having a little jet lag.
